Yesterday this 16 year old girl that goes to my school was driving. She was distracted by texting, and ran through a red light. She crashed into another car, and went off the side of the road, past the guard rails, down the hill. She died in the crash. Now, my facebook news feed is nothing but stauses about how people miss her dearly. In school, I sat in my math class, silent, still. I watched the girl’s ex boyfriend walk into his math class, he stared at his teacher holding the door open, and they both began to cry and hug. The girl was texting her friend about this ex boyfriend. All in all, school was silent, still, sad… most of all it was a reminder that no one is promised tomorrow.
So, please, don’t text and drive, or really do anything while driving besides concentrate on driving. That text can wait, but a car crash, you can’t pause that. My school has lost three people in the last year, and I would hate for any of you to lose anyone in your life. So please, remind your loved ones of this.
Rest in Peace Daileen, Dylan, and Nico
